Lazio midfielder Hernanes has insisted that he is happy at the club amid rumours that he’s stalling on negotiating a new contract.

Recent reports claimed that the Brazilian is not looking to renew his current deal with the capital club as Serie A rivals Inter are interested in his services.

Lazio are said to want to tie down the 27-year-old to a new long-term deal, even though his current contract expires in June 2015, but his agent suggested that plans to renegotiate terms were non-existent.

Hernanes said: “I’ve had no contact with Lazio about my contract. It expires in June 2015.

“The rumours about my future are news to me. I really didn’t know anything about these stories until today.”

The former São Paulo player, who is thought to be earning €1.8million a season at the Stadio Olimpico, has scored six goals in 16 league games so far this season.

Hernanes has been nominated for this year’s Samba Gold Trophy, which is awarded to the best Brazilian player in Europe.
