São Paulo are close to sealing a move for former Juventus, Inter and Bayern Munich defender Lucio on a free transfer according to reports in Brazil.

Juventus released the Brazilian from his contract at the Turin club and the defender was free to talk to other clubs ahead of a transfer.

Reports in the Brazilian press say that Lucio is set to arrive at São Paulo for contract talks and an agreement could be announced by the club as early as this weekend.

São Paulo have long targeted the Brazilian, first attempting to sign him when he left Inter, but the player chose to stay in Italy with Juventus.

However, a lack of first team opportunities have seen him leave Turin in search of first team football elsewhere.

Lucio will bring a wealth of experience, having won the 2010 Champions League with Jose Mourinho’s Inter as well as having made 105 appearances for the Seleção over a period of eleven years.
