Lucas Paquetá has been linked with a possible transfer to Manchester City for a while now. The Brazilian midfielder has finally addressed these rumors, making it clear he’s only focused on finishing the Premier League season strongly with West Ham.
“I have to do my job here at West Ham,” Paquetá told ESPN. “I have enormous respect for the club. I’m very happy here, if I say I’m not, I’d be lying. Of course it involves a lot of things that are happening off the field, but I remain focused on doing my best, finishing the season well.
“I started well, I hope to finish well. What they say (about Manchester City) is everything from last window. Now, it’s time to finish the season and wait for what will happen.”

The 26-year-old was expected to complete a move to the Etihad Stadium last summer, but the deal reportedly fell apart when Paquetá started to be investigated by FA for potential betting breaches.
“It’s been seven months since it happened and I’m cooperating as much as I can,” Paquetá said about the investigation in March.
Signed from Lyon in a €43 million move in the summer of 2022, the Flamengo product is under contract at West Ham until June 2027. The midfielder boasts eight goals and seven assists in 40 appearances across all competitions for the Hammers this season.
