She’s back, fans! After a year away from the Brazilian National Team, goalkeeper Lorena returns to the squad for the SheBelieves Tournament, which kicks off on Saturday (6) in the United States.

At 26 years old, the Grêmio player was sidelined after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee during a training session. She underwent surgery and a long recovery period.

“The first few months are difficult because it’s the acceptance phase. It was very tough, it’s a very painful injury, but I also understand that it’s a process. I’m back very happy and feeling very well and prepared,” she said.

Now fully recovered, she assures that she is ready to contribute to the national team in the competition.

“Last year was very tough as a professional athlete. I return to the national team with a light heart and very happy. I think it’s a place that every athlete aims to be, and it’s no different for me. Throughout my entire treatment, I was thinking about returning to have the opportunity here. I’m very happy with this chance,” she commented.

The goalkeeper also expressed her expectations for this call-up under the new coach of the national team, Arthur Elias, who took over the Brazilian National Team in September 2023.

“I think you can expect a different national team. A more aggressive team, constantly seeking to score. Brazil comes in very strong, and I believe we are the candidates to lift the trophy,” she added.

Brazil debuts this Saturday (6) at 4:30 PM (Brasília time) against Canada at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, USA.
