Internacional continued their strong start to the 2014 league campaign with a 2-1 victory over Atletico Paranaense at the impressive Beira-Rio stadium in Porto Alegre on Saturday evening.

Inter, who now sit atop the Serie A standings with ten points from four games, were far too strong for their opponents, managing ten shots on target throughout the game.

A goalless first half preceded a Paranaense opener against the run of play as winger Marcos Guillerme struck after 52 minutes; Inter’s response was swift to say the least.

A leveller came a mere 90 seconds later as club stalwart Andres D’Alessandro finished off Alan Patrick’s assist.

And the three points were secure when Patrick himself bagged from Rafael Moura’s good work, leaving Inter three points ahead of Corinthians and last year’s championship winners Cruzeiro, who both have a game in hand to make up the deficit.
