Retired Seleção maestro Emerson has wished his former team Clarence Seedorf luck with his new job as he is set to become the new AC Milan coach.

Emerson believes the Dutchman will enjoy success as a manager and talked about his understanding for tactics in an interview with Lance.

“It will be a new challenge for Seedorf. As a player, he respected tactics and understood the game very well.

“I believe he may have good results and do very well in his new role.

“He is experienced, has played in various places all over the world and has always been dedicated and attentive to what the coaches said.

“He exercised a natural leadership role as a player and that will be important as this new phase begins. I hope Seedorf has good luck in charge of Milan.”

Emerson played with Seedorf at Milan, when the Brazilian’s career was coming to an end but the pair still enjoyed glory together.

They were at the heart of Milan’s FIFA Club World Cup triumph in 2007 and the Brazilian praised his former team mate.

“On the pitch he really facilitated my work. Always attacking with a lot of quality, he stole many balls and helped me man mark.

“He was always very active in the defensive and offensive parts of the pitch and had loads of technical quality.”
