Sports Illustrated are among the publications reporting a worrying transport issue in the Brazilian city of Cuiaba, less than six months until the start of the World Cup.
A new 13-mile light rail system won’t be ready in time for the big kick-off on June 12, according to project manager Mauricio Guimaraes. In fact, he believes it will remain incomplete until as late as December, causing massive trasportation issues for the World Cup and its supposed legacy of a better infrastructure.
It is a setback for the tournament, which has recently been beset by stadium issues and public threats of protests during the summer
The Mato Grosso state capital is due to host four Group games this summer including Chile’s game against Australia on June 13.
