Arsenal are considering making a move for Barcelona outcast Dani Alves in the January window according to reports in Brazil.

The Brazilian fullback has been overlooked in favour of young Spaniard Martín Montoya after a series of injuries this season.

The Seleção star suffered three thigh injuries in a short space of time and it is believed in the Brazilian press that Barcelona are prepared to let the player go.

Dani Alves’ fall in fortunes come after revelations in the summer that former boss Pep Guardiola had demanded the club sell the Brazilian if he was to stay at the Camp Nou.

Reports of a ‘lack of commitment’ were raised as the reason for the Catalan’s demands and the rise of Montoya as a serious alternative has pushed Alves closer the the exit.

Alves orginally signed for Barcelona from league rivals Sevilla in a £30m move in 2008 after potential moves to Liverpool and Chelsea collapsed due to disagreements with Sevilla.
