São Paulo are set to hold off competition from both Grêmio and Flamengo to secure the services of playmaker Paulo Henrique Ganso, having agreed a deal with all parties concerned.

Ganso, 22, has been in dispute with club side Santos for some time after failing to agree terms on a new contract and, earlier this week, the club’s president Luis Alvaro de Oliveira Ribeiro revealed that the club would accept R$23.8 million (£7.3 million) for their share of the player.

Now, São Paulo have agreed to pay Santos’ asking price, whilst also benefitting from being the preferred destination for DIS, the agency who own the remaining 55% of the player’s ownership.

Under the terms of the deal, São Paulo will only purchase the share of the player owned by Santos and should transfer the payment at the beginning of next week.

It is believed that Ganso could be unveiled to fans ahead of Saturday evening’s fixture with Portuguesa, with the number 8 shirt already reserved for his arrival.

At São Paulo, the playmaker would team-up with former Seleção colleague Jadson in attacking midfield, behind a strike-force containing ex-Sevilla star Luis Fabiano.
