On his birthday, Felipe Anderson decided to give a gift to all Palmeiras fans. The attacking midfielder will not continue at Lazio and has signed a pre-contract to join the two-time Brasileirão champion starting in July.

“The versatile player, who turns 31 today, has signed a pre-contract with Verdão and will join the great Brazilian champions starting in July, after the opening of the international transfer window – his agreement will begin on July 1 and will extend until December 31, 2027,” the São Paulo club stated in a release.

Minutes earlier, the player himself announced on his social media that he will not continue at the institution in the Italian capital. “Out of respect for Lazio and all its people, who have always supported me, I want to inform you that I have not reached an agreement to renew my contract with the club and, therefore, I will take a different path next season,” he wrote.

“I have always demonstrated with actions my professionalism and commitment to Lazio, so I assure you that I will continue to dedicate myself until the last day of my contract to honor this shirt. Thank you for everything!” he indicated in his post.

Trained in the rich Santos academy, the player made his professional debut in 2010, at the age of 17, and was part of the squad that won the Copa Libertadores in 2011 and the Recopa Sudamericana in 2012. In 2013, he moved to Lazio, where he played for five seasons before moving to the Premier League’s West Ham.

After a brief loan spell at Porto in Portugal, the Brazilian returned to Lazio to once again become a key player. His offensive contribution is enormous: he has scored five goals this season in Serie A, two in the last match against Salernitana, and provided six assists.

With the Brazilian national team, he had a stint in the youth teams and a few matches with the senior team. He was part of the team that won the gold medal during the 2016 Rio Olympics.
