Multiple sources report that the player terminated his contract by mutual consent with Botafogo, where he was since January this year. The contract signed with Flu is valid until December 2022.

Danilo arrives at Fluminense and will battle for a first-team spot with Egídio and Orinho, who do not have the full backing of the Tricolor supporters. The full-back arrived at Alvinegro after the request of the then coach Alberto Valentim whom he previously worked with at Vasco but failed to make the grade at the club.

Starting out with América-MGDanilo Barcelos has also played for SportPonte PretaVasco and Botafogo. In 2020, he has already played 12 games and scored a goal – from a penalty, against Paraná, last Wednesday. The goal came in Botafogo’s 2-1 win after which they secured qualification to the fourth phase of the Copa do Brasil.

Fluminese announced the statement on their website on Monday afternoon.

"Fluminense agreed to sign left-back Danilo Barcelos, who was at Botafogo. The player arrives to reinforce the tricolor squad even more and signs a contract until December 2022."

"Danilo is a full-back with a great offensive vocation. It stands out for its great dead ball and good arrival ahead. Revealed by América-MG, the full-back was highlighted by the team in 2016, when he scored 10 goals in 51 games. He also went to other major clubs such as Atlético-MG, Sport, Vasco and Botafogo."

Danilo comes as a great addition in defence for Odair Hellman. His attacking approach in particular will also come in handy in counterattacks and Flu’s general style of play.

The 29-year-old also comes in as an experience left-back, having played in top competitions across Brazilian football.
