There was plenty to talk about once again. In what has been a common occurrence of late, VAR was called into action once again and involved in yet another controversial decision.

Despite the score, it was São Paulo that started dominating the game widely. The team saw two of their chances hit the crossbar, wasted great opportunities and even scored a goal via Luciano. However, the VAR annulled the goal and the decision claimed the player was mere millimeters offside. Replays showed otherwise and it was a decision that caused controversy all over.

Despite less possession in the match, Atlético-MG managed to turn things around in quick succession.

Alan Franco grabbed a goal just five minutes after VAR annulled the goal for São PauloTen minutes later, he grabbed his second of the day and put his side 2-0 up going into the first half.

In the second half, Tricolor returned stunned to the game and saw any hopes of a comeback shattered when Jair added the third.

It was a massive setback for as they missed out on a good chance to level points with Inter at the top of the Brasileirao standings.

With the result, São Paulo are now at 13 points, but remain in second place. In the next round, the team will face Fluminense, in Morumbi on Sunday. Meanwhile, Atlético reached 12 points, jumping to third position. The team’s next outing is against Coritiba, away from home, on Sunday.
