Asides a shock loss, Gremio also saw their unbeaten record come to an end in the Brazilian Championship.

In the first half, Sport started out the game with greater intensity taking the advantage on the scoreboard early on via a well taken goal from Patric.

Grêmio played in an offensive manner seeking out a draw, but it didn’t go as planned allowing the Tricolor to take more advantage,

especially from the right side of the pitch.

It was not to be their day as they lacked precision in attack and creating clear cut chances

In the second half, Grêmio returned to the game with more intensity with Pepê in the team. Sport were looking more for a counter attacking approach with pressure from Grêmio.

In the 74th minuteSport further stunned their opponents. Jean Pyerre committed a penalty converted by Iago Maidana after a fast break from the Lion following Leandro Barcia’s move.

Few minutes later, Gremio grabbed one back. Pepê collected a pass from Robinho which he lost based on the pressure from Gremista. However, it only turned out to be a consolation goal.

The victory took Sport to 14th position having seven points while Grêmio stays at 16th place, with the same seven points. Although, they now move out of the relegation zone via a better goal difference than Botafogo.

For their next outing, Grêmio will go ahead to face Atlético-GO next Sunday at the Olímpico while Sport hosts Goiás at Ilha do Retiro the same day.
