Brazil and Paris Saint Germain captain Thiago Silva says that Zlatan Ibrahimovic would be taking a step down if he were to leave PSG for the Premier League this summer. The 34 year old is out of contract at the French club in July, with rumours percolating of a move to England.

However, teammate Silva, also a teammate of Zlatan’s at A.C. Milan, thinks the Swede would be better off staying in Paris, “He is my good friend, but also at 34 he is playing the best football of his career. He is one of the best in the world, he is unique, there is not another player like him.

“Of course I want him to stay at PSG, I cannot imagine us without him. I know he has offers from England – and it is a big league – but I don’t think there is a team in England that is at the level of PSG at the moment. For me it would be a step down in quality for him.”

Manchester United are the club being linked with Ibrahimovic most regularly. PSG will play Manchester City tonight in the Champions League quarter-final 2nd leg, the first leg having finished 2-2 in Paris.
