Paris Saint-Germain President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has claimed he rejected a €40 million offer from Barcelona for Marquinhos.
The centre-back, who was signed for a similar fee from Roma last summer, has long been linked with the Catalan giants, but Al-Khelaifi is determined to keep his best players.
“We received an offer from Barça ca of over €40 million for Marquinhos,” he said, as reported by Football Espana.
“Our purpose is not to do business but to build a great club with great players. If we were to do business we would have sold three or four players this summer, but that’s not my philosophy.
“Financial Fair Play doesn’t prevent us signing great players. Moreover, great players are already here.”
