New Torino forward Amauri is confident he can prove the sceptics wrong.

The 34 year-old, who was signed on a free transfer from Parma on Monday, has been accused of being overweight, while his past at the Granata’s city rivals Juventus is also a cause for controversy.

“I knew I’d arrive to some scepticism, but I love challenges and adventures,” he said, as reported by Football Italia.

“As always in my life, I’ll try to prove the sceptics wrong and change the minds of those who are still unsure.

“I believe in destiny and if destiny brought me back to Turin then it means I have something important to do.

“I had left this city on very bad terms, but I return with a smile. I read certain rubbish in the papers from people trying to sling mud at me. Before writing, they ought to do some proper research and get correct information.

“I was young at Juve, but I am more experienced now. I’m not looking for alibis, but the past belongs in a museum. I am here to start a new adventure and I am happy.”
