Kaká had the opportunity to move to the MLS in 2012 but is now delighted his dream has become a reality.
The Brazilian playmaker is to sign for new side Orlando City after agreeing with AC Milan to terminate his contract.
However, two years ago the option to sign for New York Red Bulls arose but the 32-year-old didn’t take up the offer.
He is delighted to be moving to America now and is aiming to show fans that "football can be beautiful".
Football Italia quoted Kaká, he said: "I’ve always wanted to play in the USA.
"The first contact dates back to 2012, when [President] Flavio Augusto told me I could have the option to buy a franchise [like David Beckham].
"Now the dream is a reality. The MLS is growing so much. I want to show American fans that football can be beautiful.
"Two years ago I had the opportunity to go to New York, but I’m delighted I chose Orlando. My family is also happy with this choice."
Kaká will move to São Paulo for a short period of time first before embarking on his American journey with Orlando City.
