Honduras have announced the 23 players they want to represent them in Brazil this summer.
Six of the squad members will be familiar to followers of the top clubs in England and Scotland. The Honduras coach Luis Fernando Suarez has called up the Stoke midfielder Wilson Palacios, Hull’s Maynor Figueroa, Roger Espinoza and Juan Carlos Garcia of Wigan Athletic, Celtic’s Emilio Izaguirre and Rangers’ Arnold Peralta.
Honduras will play friendlies against England, Israel and Turkey in the United States before heading to Brazil.
Goalkeepers: Noel Valladares, Donis Escober (both Olimpia), Luis Lopez (Real Espana).
Defenders: Brayan Beckeles (Olimpia), Emilio Izaguirre (Celtic), Juan Carlos Garcia (Wigan), Maynor Figueroa (Hull), Victor Bernardez (San Jose Earthquakes), Osman Chavez (Qingdao Janoon), Juan Pablo Montes (Motagua).
Midfielders: Arnold Peralta (Rangers), Luis Garrido (Olimpia), Roger Espinoza (Wigan), Jorge Claros (Motagua), Wilson Palacios (Stoke), Oscar Garcia (Houston Dynamo), Andy Najar (Anderlecht), Mario Martinez (Real Espana), Marvin Chavez (Colorado Rapids).
