Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that he is hoping for a lot of support from Brazilian fans at the World Cup this summer.
Portugal would welcome a warm reception during a potentially challenging group stage, with matches against Germany, Ghana and the United States.
In an interview with SporTV, the Real Madrid striker said: “I hope that [we receive] great support from Brazilians. It is a brother country, a country that speaks the same language and has a special flavour."
But Ronaldo conceded that one occasion might arise when the host nation"s supporters would definitely not be backing the old colonial masters.
“We obviously won"t [get home fans‘ support] if we play against Brazil…[if the two countries meet] I hope it is in the final."
