Former Brazil striker Giovane Elber has dismissed Manchester United’s chances of putting out Bayern Munich in tonight’s Champions League quarter final second leg and claimed that the only team capable of halting the Germans repeating their success of last season is Real Madrid.

Elber, who had a phenomenal return of 92 goals in 169 games for the Bavarian outfit, told Goal: “Bayern are stronger than last year. We have to wait for the match against Manchester United but I claim there is only one team in the Champions League that can beat Bayern and it’s Real Madrid.”

On Bayern’s style, Elber added: “You try it from the left, you try it from the right, you try it from the middle. You do everything. You try to do it in one on one situations , you press and you don’t let them breathe and be ready for their turnovers.”

“Bayern will attack that way on Wednesday and get lots of chances. I am convinced of that.”

Elber was at the German side for six years, and won 15 caps for Brazil in a stellar career.
