If Flamengo manage to beat Emelec, the side from Ecuador, in this evening’s Copa Libertadores group 7 encounter, they may well have one of their own to thank for inside information about their opponents.

2013’s Copa do Brasil champions are in dire need of three points from the fixture, sitting as they are at the bottom of the section after four games.

And Flamengo have turned to their Ecuadorean defender Frickson Erazo to glean any sort of advantage ahead of the fixture.

Erazo told the club’s official website: “Emelec is a very fast team, a compact team that plays well. The coach has been working with the team for some time, so I think it will be a very tough match.”

“But Flamengo has been playing well and I believe we can make a good match in Ecuador. We know their strength, but we can play well.”

Flamengo have only ever failed to escape the group stage of the Libertadores on one occasion and a repeat would no doubt lead to huge anger from the fans of one of Brazil’s biggest clubs.
