The El Clásico didn’t go Real Madrid’s way but despite losing the seven goal thriller 4-3 Brazilian Marcelo is already focusing on bouncing back.

Attack completely dominated defence in yesterday’s encounter but the 25-year-old told Canal+ after the game that the team followed the instructions of their coach Carlo Ancelotti.

AS English quoted the Brazilian, he said: “It’s really hard to lose such a good game. We’ve got an important match in Seville. We’ve got to keep our heads and keep focused, thinking about the coming games.

“We tried to do what the coach asked us to. It’s not always possible to keep a clean sheet, as we have done in so many games.”

The performance of referee Undiano Mallenco has come in for question with three penalties awarded in addition a red card for Sergio Ramos, which badly affected the outcome for Madrid.

Marcelo refused to talk about the performance of the officials though and instead focused on the challenge of winning La Liga.

“I wouldn’t talk about the referee,” the Brazilian said.

“A lot can still happen. We need to keep our heads held high. We’ve already said the league has to be won playing matches. Barca are a great team and we need to keep going.”
