Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has confirmed that they are in negotiations with Internacional for the transfer of Leandro Damião.
Speaking after the confirmed departure of Edinson Cavani to PSG, the president was at pains to confirm that they are pursuing a replacement.
Taking to Twitter, De Laurentiis said: “We are negotiating for Leandro Damiao and Higuain. Albiol is already having a medical.”
Damião has long been linked with a move away from Internacional and now it seems that a club is willing to pay the €25 million asking price.
A move to Tottenham collapsed numerous times over the past year due to disagreements over the player’s value.
But Napoli look set to meet the asking price and secure the Brazilian’s transfer as a replacement for Cavani.
Rafa Benitez has already bolstered the Serie A runners-up this summer, with goalkeeper Rafael and attacking duo Jose Callejon and Dries Mertens having completed moves to Stadio San Paolo in the past week.
