Villarreal have reportedly joined the race to sign Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Júlio César this summer as competition for Juan Carlos Sanchez.

The Spanish side are known to be in the market to sign a second goalkeeper this summer as competition for Sanchez and the Brazilian is rumoured to be on their radar, reports Football Espana.

Today, Villarreal president Fernando Roid is reported to have enquired to QPR about the availability of the former Inter Milan ‘keeper César, who is widely expected to leave the his club this summer.

The Seleção international, who only moved to the London side last summer, is expected to leave this transfer window, with a return to Serie A suggested, although Arsenal are also considering a move for the stopper.

However, Villarreal are thought to have entered consideration now, with the ‘keeper valued at €3m.
