Bayern Munich are closing in on the signing of Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcântara for €22 million, according to reports.
The Spain Under-21 midfielder has been heavily linked with a move this summer, with Manchester United the long-time favourites to meet his €18 million release clause.
However, last week it was reported that Bayern had stolen a march in negotiations, as new manager Pep Guardiola stated his determination to take the son of Brazil World Cup winner Mazinho to Germany.
Football Espana are reporting that Bayern are now close to finalising a deal for the 22-year-old within a matter of days.
Sport Today suggest that the deal is now set to be mutually agreed between all parties and will see Bayern pay out a total of €22m for the player, covering his €18m clause and also fronting up a further €4m in taxes due.
It is also suggested that Barca are pushing for the Bundesliga side to include terms in the deal for further payment, based on Thiago’s future performances at the club and should the German and European champions win more titles.
