Cruzeiro striker Borges has revealed that he has set himself a goalscoring target for the season, having begun 2013 with six goals in five games.

Borges, 32, scored twice on Sunday night to help Cruzeiro to a 3-1 victory over América Mineiro in the state championship and believes that he can motivate himself to great things throughout the setting of personal goals.

“I think everybody has to have that goal. I am a man motivated by objectives. When I am not focused on something, it doesn’t happen,” he told reporters.

“I have my aims. But, when you speak of them, it creates great expectation and sometimes you don’t reach them.

“That’s great for you guys (the press), but it’s better for me to stay quiet.”

Borges endured a tough season in 2012, but finished the 2011 Brazilian championship as top scorer with 23 goals for Santos.
