Flamengo striker Vagner Love is reportedly seeking an exit route from the cash-striken Rio de Janeiro side, with the player’s representatives making contact with Corinthians over a possible transfer.

Vagner Love, 28, rejoined the Rubro-Negro in January 2012, but has seen the club lurch from crisis to crisis as the club’s turbulent financial and political situation becomes increasingly severe.

With September’s salary unpaid, the striker’s representatives reportedly shocked rivals Corinthians by making an approach to the club over negotiating a possible transfer.

Although the São Paulo side have denied entering any negotiations for the player, director of football Roberto de Andrade admits they would consider the striker:

“Everything can change,” he told Lancenet. “We are not after Love, but who knows what will happen tomorrow. There is no reason why it couldn’t happen tomorrow.

“If you look at him as a player, he is a great player – any club would like to have him in their squad. However, it is not the case. We do not know if we will bring in a striker. There is no negotiation.”

Despite the reports, Love’s agent Evandro Ferreira has also denied that he had personally approached Corinthians over a deal.
