Former Palmeiras head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari believes there are players in the squad who can prevent the relegation of Palmeiras, but admits time is running out fast.
Scolari, 63, is now a technical advisor of the Ministry of Sports and during a visit to the Castelão Stadium, being rebuilt for the World Cup 2014, the former Seleção manager told reporters that it will be more difficult with each game for his former team to stay up.
He said: “It gets harder every round that comes and the results do not come for the team. But there are players there that can make a difference. I trust them to do so.”
The São Paulo team currently occupy 18th place in the Brasileirão on 33 points, seven behind Bahia who are just out of the relegtion zone.
Felipão had a mixed season at the club. Early in the year they won the Copa do Brasil, but the coach was sacked after a poor start to the season. However, he refused to be drawn on his problems at the club.
“There are things I can not answer right now. But I can assure you that the team has value, but is not working as expected.
“I agree that I have some responsibility in this moment of Palmeiras. But, in the same proportion, I’m guilty too for winning the Copa do Brasil this year,” he added with a hint or irony.
