In China, Fluminense have found their attempts to bring about the return of Argentine Dario Conca thwarted, with Guangzhou Evergrande unwilling to sell their star player ahead of the 2013 season.
Guangzhou, who have become frustrated with the actions of the player’s representatives and the Brazilian club, have informed Fluminense that they must meet Conca’s buy-out clause if they are to secure the player – now quoted at US$10 million.
Conca would be able to negotiate a pre-contract next summer, with a view to a move in December 2013, but the Chinese side are unwilling to lose the star ahead of a second attempt at the Asian Champions League crown.
Despite club sponsors Unimed being reportedly willing to fund a deal, Fluminense are unwilling to match the $10 million Evergrande paid for the player last summer, with Conca’s lawyer Bichara Neto set to return from the Far East this week and confirm the Chinese side’s reluctance to sell.
With Conca amongst the world’s best paid players in China, it is little wonder the Super League champions would insist on recouping their transfer fee for the player, with Fluminense look set for a year-long wait if they are not prepared to meet the negotiated release clause.
