Brazilian midfielder Anderson has handed Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson a selection dilemma ahead of the weekend’s tie with Arsenal following a starring role in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday night.

Despite Manchester United’s 5-4 defeat to Chelsea, after extra-time, the Red Devils will have left Stamford Bridge pleased with the efforts of their youthful side when confronted with a stong Chelsea line-up.

Anderson, 24, has found first-team opportunities limited this campaign, but has impressed when given the opportunity and the trend continued once more, with the former Grêmio youngster bagging all three assists for his side.

In the first-half of the encounter, with Manchester United on the front-foot, the Brazilian was influential as the Reds controlled the midfield area, with the industry of Darren Fletcher and Ryan Giggs allowing the Brazil international to take on a more creative midfield role.

One downside to the evening for the Brazilian will have been his eventual substitution for youngster Ryan Tunnicliffe, with his requently questioned fitness levels once more proving to be well below the expect standard for a Premier League player.
