According to the Daily Mirror, the club’s manager Harry Redknapp sent his chief scout Ian Broomfield to Brazil to watch Damião in action for Inter against Coritiba on Sunday, with a view to an imminent bid.
Emmanuel Adebayor’s loan spell at Tottenham has now expired, and although the Togolese striker is keen to sign a permanent deal at White Hart Lane, Redknapp has said that it would be difficult for Spurs to afford his wages.
It has been reported that Redknapp was also keen on signing Marseille forward Loic Rémy, but the Frennch club have put the English boss off the 25-year-old by asking for a huge transfer fee.
Therefore Redknapp has now switched his attention to Damião, despite having failied to lure the Brazil international to Tottenham in January
Damião, who is believed to be worth £15 million, is contracted to Internacional until July 2016.
