Elkeson and Maicosuel had formed a dynamic and destructive partnership last season, before tailing-off at the end of the season as Botafogo slumped.

Now, with the introduction of Andrezinho in the centre, the form has returned as the trio have come to life behind Loco Abreu in attack.

“The early season has been encouraging, but I am avoiding raising expectations because we have a lot ahead of us,” said left-sided Maicosuel, a switch from last-campaign. “I will continue to work and dedicate myself.”

Elkeson and Maicosuel have markedly enjoyed a shift in responsibilities this season, with the freedom to switch wings, playing predominantly on the opposite side to last season.

Botofogo may not have the biggest squad, but when the first-team is fully available, there are few better in the Brasileirão.
