The 58-year-old was appointed as the Iraqi national teams head coach last August and is faced with the challenge of qualifying the Middle Eastern country to footballs most prestigious competition for the first time in 28 years.

"Everybody wants to be at the greatest festival of football," Zico was quoted as saying on FIFA"s official website.

"I had the opportunity to be involved [at the World Cup] as a player and as a coach and I hope to live this experience again.

"Brazil is my country, but today I am the coach of Iraq and I"m only thinking about this team for the World Cup.

"I trust in my players and I hope that our efforts can be successful."

Iraq have made it through to the fourth round of the Asian World Cup qualifiers.
