Both Flamengo and Fluminense battled for Thiago Neves’ signature in the last January transfer window and it was the Rubro Negro who came out on top, agreeing to loan the twenty six year old until the 31st of December, 2011, as well as purchasing 10% of his economic rights from Saudi Arabian club, Al-Hilal.

The Arabian club also gave Flamengo a deadline to exercise their right to purchase the remaining 90% of Thiago Neves economic rights for €6.5 million, but that agreement ended on Thursday with no agreement being reached.

Al-Hilal are now willing to negotiate with other clubs and it’s the midfielders former club, Fluminense, who once again find themselves linked with the player.

However, despite Thiago Neves being back on the transfer market, the Tricolor’s vice President of football, Sandro Lima, revealed the club have made no contact with the player.

”Thiago Neves is an idol at Fluminense and all the fans like him, but at the moment we have not entered in to any negotiations with them (Al-Hilal),”  Lima explained to Lance.

”We will not cross the line with Flamengo in nothing, because we have already just signed Wagner for the midfielder position. We have not made any offer, nor have we made contact with him.”
