The player transfer market is hot. In the first transfer window of the 2024 season, from January 10 to March 7, the international movements of athletes conducted by Brazilian clubs have already reached the mark of approximately R$1.8 billion ($350 millions). This amount almost reaches the value obtained by the clubs throughout the year 2023, which was around R$1.9 billion.

With the result of the first window this year, the trend is for 2024 to surpass the historical mark recorded last year. The value obtained in 2023 grouped all the financial movements of entry and exit of professional athletes from Brazil, being around R$1.25 billion in revenues earned by Brazilian clubs from the negotiation of athletes abroad, and R$650 million in amounts spent on the hiring of athletes coming from outside the country.

The values only increase. The growth had already been noticed in 2023 compared to 2022. In the year of the Qatar World Cup, a mark equivalent to R$1.5 billion was reached.

In addition, from January to December 2023, a total of 2,589 athletes left Brazil for abroad, reflecting a 20% growth compared to the total recorded in 2022, with 145 onerous transfers (with agreement and payment of values between the clubs involved).

In the last season, a total of 1,216 athletes from abroad, whether Brazilians or foreigners, entered the Brazilian market, representing a small increase compared to the final number of athletes who arrived in Brazil in 2022 (6.5%). However, the amount spent by Brazilian clubs increased by 43%, compared to the sum of the amounts spent in 2022.
