It is Neymar’s first win in either award, with the Bola de Ouro awarded by magazine Placar and the Prêmio Craque Brasileirão the official award given by the CBF and Globo.

The main competition for the awards came in the form of Vasco centre-back Dedé, with Liédson the third-man on the Prêmio Craque Brasileirão shortlist, but the golden boy of Brazilian football was chosen by the judging panel as the clear winner.

Earlier today as well, Neymar was announced on the three-man shortlist for the FIFA Ferenc Puskas award, given to the best goal scored in 2011.

Also on the shortlist are Lionel Messi and Wayne Rooney, with the decision to be announced alongside the Ballon d’Or award in January.

2008: Hernanes (São Paulo)
