The twenty six year old midfielder has recently been negotiating a deal with Fluminense, but Botafogo were hoping to beat their local rivals to his signature.
However, Brazilian sports network, Globoesporte, have now confirmed that the Alvinegro club is no longer a transfer target, as their not prepared to end up in a bidding war with Fluminense.
Botafogo are already planning to strengthen their squad for next season, with AC Milan veteran, Clarence Seedorf, believed to be at the top of their transfer wish list.
