“They are opportunistic and totally false statements in the press from a Brazilian businessman named Roberto Tadeu,” said the Portuguese club’s statement. “Such statements, since they have no mandate from Benfica, are either fiction or motivated by business.”
During Tuesday afternoon, Roberto Tadeu had mentioned that Palmeiras had passed on the chance to bring in both Saviola and Roque Santa Cruz, also promising to continue working on other players.
The agent had previously worked for Palmeiras on their attempts to sign Ronaldinho.
