Udinese are continuing to push for Flamengo defender Samir, according to reports.

The website of respected Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the Serie A outfit have offered around €4.5 million for the central defender, but a transfer remains far from nearing completion.

The report suggests that the bid has not been accepted by Flamengo, as yet, while Samir himself has given no indication as to whether he is willing to negotiate a switch to Udinese.

The 20 year-old, who can cover at left full-back, is contracted to Flamengo until December 2017 and has been playing for the first-team since 2013.

With the Mengão, he has won the 2013 Copa do Brasil and 2014 Campeonato Carioca, whilst also earning international recognition for Brazil at under-20 and under-21 levels.

This season, he has continued his development by making six appearances in the Brasileirão, though he has missed Flamengo’s last five matches.

Were he to join Udinese, he would be moving to a club that is renowned for developing young players. He would also get to play alongside fellow Brazilian Danilo in defence, while there is also Edenílson, Guilherme, Lucas Evangelista and Gabriel Silva in the first-team squad.
