Former Brazil star Zico, having declared his candidacy for the presidency of FIFA, says he wanted to be sponsored by the Brazilian Football Confederation and says waiting for the response of its federation.

Zico, who scored 52 goals in 72 appearances for Brazil, hopes that the services he has have rendered to the nation will be an asset for him as the Brazilian federation consider their decision. He said: “I sent President Marco Polo [del Nero] a letter explaining to him the outline of my application, and I have now to wait for a reply to see if they agree to engage with me or not. I am Brazilian, I have rendered services to the national team for ten years and my life has been made entirely here in Brazil. We have to be registered by October 26, so we have to have other options, but it is logical that I would appreciate being sponsored by the CBF. “

Sepp Blatter’s successor as head of FIFA will be made known on February 26, 2016.
