Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiani spoke about Felipe Anderson’s decision to join Palmeiras at the end of the season. “He’s going to Palmeiras and lost money compared to what Lazio offered him. We offered him five years and a significant salary, the second or third highest on the team,” said the executive.

The forward surprised the world with his return to Brazil, as Juventus seemed to be in pole position to sign him on a free transfer in the summer transfer market. However, Fabiani understood Anderson’s family reasons and praised the player’s behavior during his time in Rome.

“Felipe Anderson acted like a man with incredible dignity and professionalism. We did everything we could to keep him, but when faced with family and territorial decisions, there’s nothing we can do. He put his family at the center of the project, recently had a child. We take our hats off to Anderson; he’s an incredible person. He has never caused problems either at Lazio or at other clubs. He’s the son everyone would want,” added the Serie A club’s executive.

Trained in Santos’ youth academy, Anderson spent most of his career at Lazio, joining the Italian side in 2013. With stints at West Ham and Porto between 2018 and 2021, this is his eighth season in the Italian capital.
