In the current 2023/24 season, FC Barcelona under Xavi Hernández has been giving a lot of prominence to the young gem from their academy, Lamine Yamal. The 16-year-old winger has already played 40 games in the current season, in which he has scored six goals and provided seven assists.

Neymar, the great inspiration for Lamine Yamal

On his social media, Lamine Yamal has already shown to be a big fan of Neymar Jr., by posting a photo of his laptop while watching highlights of the Brazilian star during his time at FC Barcelona.

During this meeting with Mundo Deportivo outside La Masía’s facilities, Sergi Solé, the interviewer, asked about this great fondness he feels towards the Brazilian forward with an illustrious past at the Catalan institution, being his great idol:

“Why did I like Neymar more than anyone else? Because he made me go watch the games. He made me have fun, it was a spectacle, it was beautiful to watch him play.”

Regarding Yamal’s fondness for Neymar’s dribbling, the interviewer asked if he tried to replicate his dribbles during games, receiving a positive response from the Spanish star:

“I think that in the end, from watching him so much, sometimes they come out naturally (his dribbles) and then I think and say ‘Look, he used to do this.’ ” The Barça winger concluded, who will be one of the offensive weapons of the Blaugrana in the challenging Champions League match against PSG.
