After saying goodbye to SJK in Finland, left-back Murilo Henrique signed with Johor Darul in Malaysia. After six years in European football, the player from Espírito Santo signed a contract for two and a half seasons with the team that has won ten consecutive national titles.

“I am very happy with this opportunity. Johor is a club with a lot of tradition in Malaysia, the current ten-time national champion, so I arrive with a huge motivation to help the club achieve great accomplishments and also grow internationally. When I received the invitation, I was immensely honored, and I will give my best to contribute in the best possible way,” said Murilo.

Historically, the club has had a large number of Brazilian players. The forward Diogo, formerly of Portuguesa, Santos, Flamengo, and Palmeiras, and the defender Maurício, who played for Palmeiras, Sporting, Lazio, and Spartak Moscow. Currently, it has Bergson, who came through the ranks at Grêmio and has also played for Ceará and Fortaleza.

“Johor is a club with a lot of history involving Brazilians. Currently, they have Bergson, who is an idol here. It’s good to know about this identification, and now I hope to build my own story as well. As I said, I feel happy, motivated, and with great expectations to give back on the field,” Murilo Henrique concluded.

Although he began his career in the U-17 team of São Francisco do Conde in 2012, Murilo Henrique turned professional in Portugal, playing for Varzim’s B team in 2014. After this process, he returned to Brazil to play for Linhares and Rio Branco (AC) between 2015 and 2016. In the same year, he went back to Europe to play for Areas and Ourense, both in Spain. Finally, he was signed by SJK, where he was elected the best left-back in the country.

His last two years in Finland were marked by returns: after playing 33 games, scoring one goal, and providing six assists for HJK, he was again signed by SJK for the 2023 season. In total (across all seasons), he played 67 games, scored two goals, and provided 21 assists.
