Striker Gabriel Pec is playing his first matches with the Brazilian team and showed why he was called up by Ramon Menezes for the Pre-Olympic Tournament.

On Friday night (26), Brazil was facing difficulties against Colombia, but, in the 38th minute of the second half, Pec freed himself from the marking and managed a good pass for John Kennedy to guarantee the green and yellow victory.

A highlight for Vasco last season, this is the first competition that Pec plays for the Amarelinha. In November 2023, he was called up by Ramon for a training period in São Paulo, a sign that his name would be on the list for the Pre-Olympics.

After the match, the striker celebrated the pass to John Kennedy and compared Brazil’s performance in the first two games of the tournament. Second in Group A, the Brazilian team has scored six points in two matches and is behind Ecuador, which has seven points and one game more.

“I want to thank God for another victory. I was happy to be able to come in and contribute an assist. I think the group is evolving. The first game, the debut, everyone has a little butterflies in their stomach. Today our team managed to propose a better game and, thank God, we came out victorious.”

Next Monday (29), Ramon Menezes’ team takes the field against Ecuador, at 5pm, at the Brígido Iriarte Stadium, in Caracas, Venezuela. The clash could be an opportunity for Pec to score his first goal with the Seleção.

“I’m looking forward to scoring my goal, I’m not going to lie. But it will come at the right time.”
