Former UCL champion Carlos Alberto smashes car due amid judicial problems

Former player, with stints at Porto, Corinthians, Fluminense, and Vasco, faces legal action for disturbance in condominium

Since hanging up his boots in 2019, Carlos Alberto, a former player who emerged from Fluminense’s youth system, has found himself involved in a series of controversies.

Now, he is the target of a legal action brought by the residents of the condominium where he resides in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The reason? More than 50 incidents reported, including a video showing the former athlete, now 39 years old, vandalizing a car.

Video shows the former player vandalizing a car

The images released by the newspaper “O Globo” show the moment when Carlos Alberto becomes involved in a heated argument with a neighbor inside the car.

Amid increasing irritation, the former player strikes the car’s side mirrors, causing visible damage. The person remains inside the car during the incident and later leaves the scene.

Carlos Alberto is the subject of legal action

The legal action, brought by the condominium residents, reveals a troubled history involving Carlos Alberto, with more than 50 incidents reported against him between June 2019 and March 2023.

The complaints range from disturbing the peace, with loud music, to more serious acts such as the use of inappropriate language and even urinating in public spaces.

According to information disclosed by the column Ancelmo Góis, from the newspaper “O Globo”, the fines accumulated by the former player have already exceeded the mark of R$ 20,000, without having been settled up to this point.

Career

Carlos Alberto, who emerged from Fluminense’s youth system, had a brilliant career both nationally and internationally.

Under the command of José Mourinho, he was a key player in FC Porto’s Champions League victory in 2004. In Brazil, he was a champion of the 2005 Brazilian Championship with Corinthians, and also triumphed in the 2007 Copa do Brasil with Fluminense.

His journey at Vasco is also memorable, as he significantly contributed to the club’s return to Serie A, winning the Serie B title in 2009.
