Flamengo have gotten used to having representatives in the Brazilian national team in the last few years. Since they started a golden era in 2019 with the CONMEBOL Libertadores triumph, Mengão have had eight footballers called up to the national squad.
Fabrício Bruno is the latest to join the list, with the defender replacing the injured Marquinhos in Dorival Júnior’s call-up for the international friendlies against England and Spain in the March FIFA window.

Over the last six years, the following players from Rubro-Negro have been called up between the tenures of Tite, Fernando Diniz, and now Dorival: Gabriel Barbosa, Bruno Henrique, Rodrigo Caio, Everton Ribeiro, Pedro, Ayrton Lucas, Gerson, and Fabrício Bruno.

In 2022, Flamengo had representatives in a World Cup for the first time in 12 years. Before the call-ups of Everton Ribeiro and Pedro for Qatar, the club didn’t have a player at a World Cup since Kleberson was included in Dunga’s list for South Africa 2010.
Additionally, the Rio de Janeiro giants also had foreign players called up to their respective national teams from 2019 to now: Guillermo Varela, Giorgian de Arrascaeta, Erick Pulgar, Mauricio Isla, Arturo Vidal, Orlando Berrío, Miguel Trauco, Gustavo Cuéllar, and Robert Piris da Motta.
