In a recent interview with the English outlet The Telegraph, Frederico Pena, agent of Endrick, Vinicius Jr., and other top Brazilian and European talents, discussed various topics in a lengthy interview.

However, what surprised many were his statements regarding Endrick’s signing by Real Madrid, revealing the key factor that accelerated the arrival of the gem at the White House: “Real Madrid decided they would never let another talent like Neymar slip away.”

Frederico Pena revealed all about the negotiation period for Endrick: “Perhaps Chelsea learned their lesson”

At the end of 2022, it was officially announced that Real Madrid had reached a definitive agreement with Palmeiras for the signing of Endrick, the 16-year-old gem who had attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

At the time, teams like FC Barcelona, PSG, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Real Madrid themselves were in the race for his services, but when it came down to it, the only team willing to strongly bet on the gem were the Merengues.

At least, that’s what his agent, Frederico Pena, shared with The Telegraph:

“After an incredible performance in the Copa Sao Paulo de Fútbol Juvenil Sub-20 in Brazil, the world truly recognized Endrick’s potential. People in football already knew about him, but that’s when all the big clubs came in: Manchester City, Liverpool, PSG, Chelsea, and of course, Real Madrid,” began the lead agent of Roc Nation Sports agency.

“I think Real Madrid decided they would never let another talent slip away since Neymar went to Barça, and that’s why they moved quickly with Vini or Endrick,” stated the agent, who also took a swipe at Chelsea, a club that nearly secured the Brazilian talent.

“Perhaps Chelsea learned their lesson. They were leading the operation from the start. The boy’s parents visited Cobham and were impressed, but Chelsea was concerned about the fee. Then, when Real Madrid stepped in and was willing to pay what Palmeiras wanted, it became almost impossible for them.”

“All his father wanted for him was to be a footballer and play for Real Madrid, so that was a dream for him. Vini was also able to speak with him, share his own experiences, and offer some reassurances,” concluded the agent.
