On Saturday afternoon (27th), Criciúma obtained a great victory in the Serie A of the Brazilian Championship, defeating Vasco 4-0 at São Januário, in the fourth round of the competition.

One of the highlights of the Tigre (Tigers) was the French-naturalized Congolese striker Bolasie. He irritated the Vasco fans with a “spin” and scored the third goal for the Santa Catarina team in the 10th minute of the second half, in a great individual play.

Which African players have already scored goals in the Brazilian Championship?

  • In total, 11 African players have already found the net in the Brazilian Championship throughout history.
  • Two Nigerians are on the list: Bagy scored one with Vitória’s jersey, and Ricky scored one for America-RJ and two for Vitória.
  • Salomon Kalou, the Champions League winner with Chelsea, played the 2020 season for Botafogo and scored one goal.
  • Two Angolans are on the list, both with three goals: Geraldo, with Coritiba’s jersey, and Jonhson, for Goiás.
  • There was also the Mozambican Nuno Robalo, with four goals for Paysandu, and the Cameroonian Joel, who scored eight for Coritiba, one for Cruzeiro, two for Santos, and three for Avaí.
  • Bolasie joined the statistic on this Saturday (27th), scoring one of Criciúma’s goals in the rout over Vasco.
  • Three naturalized Brazilians also scored goals: Daniel Martins (Equatorial Guinea), Messias (Tunisia), and André Neles (Equatorial Guinea).
