Old acquaintances of Dorival Júnior, Andreas Pereira and Beraldo were key players for the Brazilian National Team in the 1-0 victory over England in a friendly at Wembley on Saturday (23). The defender played the full 90 minutes and showed great composure, while the midfielder came on in the second half and provided the decisive assist for Endrick’s goal.

Andreas played under Dorival at Flamengo in 2022. Meanwhile, Beraldo was a starter in São Paulo’s victorious campaign in the 2023 Copa do Brasil. Today, the duo shines in European football, at Fulham (ENG) and Paris Saint-Germain (FRA), respectively.

After the match, Andreas thanked the coach and celebrated the victory for his country.

“I have immense gratitude to the coach for giving me this opportunity to be here with the other players. Representing Brazil, my country, is a childhood dream. It’s a very happy day for me and my family,” celebrated the midfielder, who showed willingness to play in multiple positions.

“The coach knows that I can help as a defensive midfielder, as a box-to-box midfielder, as an attacking midfielder. I’m here to contribute with my qualities, to do my best,” he stated.

Beraldo displayed the solidity and skill of a seasoned defender. He attributes his good performance to his preparation, Dorival, and his Paris Saint-Germain teammate in the same position, Marquinhos, who has had a successful career with the National Team.

“I prepared a lot for this moment, regardless of the age at which I would reach the National Team. I was able to make it thanks to God and Dorival for the opportunity to debut with the Brazilian National Team at 20 years old. Marquinhos also gave me many tips to gain more experience and pass it on to my teammates on the field,” he explained.

“Dorival, since last year when I was at São Paulo, always gave me a lot of confidence and freedom to play my game, and today was no different. Before the game, he talked to me and gave me a lot of confidence to play calmly, have fun during the game, and we were able to emerge victorious from here tonight,” he added.

The Brazilian National Team will take to the field again this Tuesday (26) against Spain at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid (ESP). It will be another opportunity for Andreas and Beraldo to showcase their skills wearing the Yellow Jersey.
