Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus says that Argentina star Lionel Messi is the best footballer he has ever seen as the players face off in tonight’s Copa América semi-final.
The Seleção are without a trophy since winning the tournament in Venezuela in 2007, while Argentina are potless since the 1993 tournament.
The teams play in the semi-finals in Belo Horizonte tonight and Gabriel Jesus admits he will be coming up against the greatest in Lionel Messi.
“In my lifetime I have seen very few of those that are said to be the greatest in history,” Jesus said. “Messi, for me, is the best I have ever seen.
“I think I am a little split with Ronaldo Fenomeno. He is a guy that, with all his injury problems, did what he did and put his name in football history.”
The winners will face either Chile or Peru who play in the other semi-final on Wednesday evening in Porto Alegre.
